2WGZ Spotlight: Trinidad James

Trinidad James is a name that within a few short weeks has become well known in the Atlanta music scene. With the release of just one mixtape, Trinidad James has already been featured on Spin.com, Fader.com, and all the notorious rap blogs. His first mixtape, Don’t Be S.A.F.E. (Sensitive As Fuck Everyday)  I was lucky enough to catch his performance this past Sunday at Indie Fest in Atlanta, and I was not disappointed.  From his costume changes to moshing with the audience, Trinidad James is an entertainer and performer, and it was clear that the Atlanta music scene is already behind him.

For his first project this tape blew me away, production wise it is almost never seen to have such professional production on a rookie tape. He also kept the features to a minimum to let all the shine fall on him. He even snuck in a dub step break down for all the hipsters out there! Trinidad is really going about this industry the right way, he is coming out of the gate strong, concerned about the right outlets to be featured on, doing the right shows to keep and gain fans, and hiring actual professionals to keep him on track. I haven’t seen someone come out like this from no where in a while, i’m interested to see where he goes from here! Go download his mixtape and enjoy!
